Worship Leading
Cultivate an atmosphere conducive to worship.
It’s an incredibly humbling and rewarding responsibility to lead people in worship; showing them the way into the throne-room of God. It’s not just about the right songs, the right band dynamic on stage, the right voice or even the right heart. Worship leaders need to employ a number of strategic methodologies when cultivating an atmosphere conducive to worship where people don’t just sing but really open up and surrender to God. This unit covers the ways we need to interface with the team (production), the congregation (leadership) and with the Holy Spirit (prophetic).
The Heart of Worship
Attitudes and values which honour and truly worship God.
The scriptures talk about true worship and placing Jesus at the focal point of all that we do. But what does that look like for contemporary Christian artists in a church worship team or performing for God? Is there a particular style or way of playing and singing which God finds more desirable? We will help you identify and adopt the attitudes and underlying values which guarantee that when you sing, play, lead and live God is being touched, honoured and truly worshipped.
Song Writing
Build your own masterpiece to honour God.

Event and Performance Management
Learn how to prepare well for an event.
Church is the “greatest show on earth”, and we are stewards of the way our awesome message gets expressed. All ministry is only as good as its weakest link, so leaders in this program are going to learn what’s involved in preparing for a performance. This will include run sheet development and chairing a production meeting with the key players involved in staging an event. Great creativity and spontaneity come out of great preparedness!
Improvisation & Advanced Musicianship Skills
Improvisation in worship.
Musical spontaneity is becoming more and more a part of worship life in churches today. The ebb and flow of what God is doing in a service necessitates ‘real-time’ adjustments by the music team. To help capture these extemporaneous moments of ministry, students will up-skill their ability to improvise on their instrument and create an environment conducive to spontaneous worship.
Creative Showcase
Freedom to pursue your passion.
What are you most passionate about – song writing, record producing, penning a musicology thesis, event management, solo improvisation, vocal arranging? This is your chance to put your creative ideas into deliberate performance practice. We will be giving you the chance to showcase some of what you have learned. Our panel will then provide you with some helpful feedback.
